A memorial bonsai...

Greetings bonsai friends...

I wanted to share a bonsai I did today. I am not really looking for critiques of the tree. I know there are probably a good many things I could do better with it. But in truth it's point in being done today was more to soothe my soul than anything. I lost my Grandmother this morning, and it seemed for me the only way to address it in my heart beyond the grief, was to remember her in the one thing I love most....my trees. I didn't do any wiring on it and it needs a bit of a trim up, but I told my friends who know what happened today that I would post the tree...

It is a european larch, with a pot by our own Dale Cochoy.

I know you'll all be kind... and for those who have been so supportive to me today, I thank you and love you all very much.

Your Friend in all things,

When I die, my soul might soar to heaven a little faster knowing that someone had paid me such a tribute as the one you've given your grandmother.

I hope this tree will alway recall the love and special times you shared together.

Ms. Vic,

Very befitting...This tree may never be considered a 'world class' bonsai, although none of us know that for sure...It will always be 'special' to you, and this is what is most important...I think you have made a very wise decision to start a 'memorial tree', and I have no doubt this tree will always be a favorite...My condolences on your loss, and you and yours will be in my thoughts and prayers...

Thanks for sharing your sorrows and your joys...

Regards
Behr

You now have another memory of your grandmother. Whenever you look or work on your tree you will have thoughts and a smile will surely come to your face.

May your tree grow and may your thoughts be happy. Surely your love for your grandmother will never leeave.

Vic,

I keep a dracena that belonged to my late grandmother for 3 years now. I could have taken her tv,or some jewelry etc.. to remember her by but she had that raggedy old house plant for nearly my entire life.Having a plant that is associated with a friend or loved one is a wonderful thing, when I go I would like to be remembered through a tree.Best wishes to you Vic.

Vic,

My sincere condolences on the loss of your Grandmother.

I have also found some comfort in making commemorative bonsai. Trees have a kind of permanence that lends them to such things. I have a cedar elm that I collected with my son, brother and father one fall from my parent's place in Texas one bright autumn day. It is a truly ugly tree , but it's one of my favorites as it has great meaning for me.

Your tree is a beautiful tribute to your Grandmother by the way. It is a very nice bonsai in and of itself.
