Robert,
here is the picture of the three master working on that tree. Mas unfortunately was behind the tree when I took the picture. This was the last time I saw him. Sad Walter Pall |

Thats how I remember him also. At the convention I asked him how they were gonna transplant that monster california, he said he would leave that to the younger folk like the 70 year olds!

I too had a pic of Mas with Harry. Mas really enjoyed watching Kaz and Harry work over this mammoth juniper.

This is really sad news. Mas was a great bonsai artist, and will always be remembered as one.

I, like many of you, was saddened to hear of the passing of Mas. I had the privilege to participate in a workshop with him a few years ago in Charlotte. His friendly demeanor belied the extraordinary skill he possessed. Every time I wire a tree, I remember him correcting me for using too thin a diameter of wire. He said,"John, why do you underwire? I told you what to do and you don't listen." I just smile when I think of that. He was such a great teacher that you WANTED to make him proud of your work. A rare gift indeed.
I will always treasure the tree Mas and I worked on that day, and even though it is not a great bonsai, his involvement makes it priceless to me. I'll always remember you Mas. I hope you are experiencing paradise with the same warm smile you shared with us.
