Voting Rules - 2006 Articles Contest

The articles are now staged. Voting is enabled.

You can go either go directly to the voting area and link back to the articles, or follow the links in the articles over to the voting poll.

1. Articles Index UPDATED LINK! (This also appears next to any of the linked articles in most browsers.)

2. The actual voting area is here, but it's not active yet. You can still use it as an index to the articles, though.
We're using the Gallery track votes

3. In a few days you'll be able to use the "Check My Votes" tool as we had in the Styling Contest. It appears beneath your name next to forum posts.

REMEMBER: you're welcome to comment on the articles. Please don't comment on comments (or answer them if you are the author!)

VOTING BEGAN ON March 31 and will end on April 30th at Midnight, Pacific Time.

Please don't discuss the articles in the forum in the meantime.

Regards,

Matt

Don't you think a full month is a long time to have the voting open?

No, because there are some of our valued members who don't come on very often. And people need time to read and vote on each article. For people who are limited in their online time, they can use a month. There's no hurry, the prizes aren't going anywhere!

I am personaly printing and reading the articles in my offline time so that I can spend more of my online time looking at the forums. Besides I plan on keeping these with my bonsai books and reading over them again in the future. I am also going to give away some of these articles to people that I meet that are interested in getting into bonsai, like the lady in the garden center at work.

There is a PRINT VIEW link available at the top of each article page. It won't give you the images in detail, but it's a handy way to get an overview of the articles.

Regards,

Matt

Voting can begin!

You are now able to vote on the articles. For those of you who have not participated before, and those of you who may have forgotten, let's run through the rules.

1. Each article has a number, and a title. The number is what appears in the gallery where there would normally be a photo. When you vote on them, you will be asked to rate them from 1 to 10. You can also comment on the article if you wish. Please do not comment on other people's comments, and if you are an article's author please do not answer anyone at this time! You can answer people later, after the voting is finished.

2. You may only vote once on each article. Only members who were registered on the forum as of March 1st, 2006 may vote. Members that came onto the forum later than that are welcome to read the articles, but please don't vote.

3. Anyone caught trying to subvert the system will be sternly dealt with. We will be watching.

4. If you lose track of which articles you haven't yet voted for, there is a system that will show you which ones still need to be voted on. It will say "Check my Votes" and it will appear beneath your name next to your forum posts. This system will be enabled within the next few days, and you can use it when it appears.

5. Please vote for all articles, if you vote for any of them. That's only fair. Authors do not need to vote for their own articles. There will be a prize that will be drawn, for everyone who votes for all articles (and authors who vote for all but their own) and then submits their name to the "I Voted" thread. We won't pull the name until all of the voting has ended.

6. Voting will end on April 30th, 2006 at midnight Pacific Time. We will remind the forum before voting ends. The winner will then be announced.

If you have any questions, please post here or pm either Matt or myself.

That's it, folks! Let's go have fun! Again, the links are here:

Thank you, Paul. Matt is working on that today, so it might just be in progress. I'll pm him about it.
