Will (she says primly) MISTER Bates never approached my tool bag. Indeed, rumors of his presence raced through the hall at one point like a bad shrimp cocktail through a Shriner, but sightings were few and believed to be merely to distract the crowds from the demonstrations in order for SOME people to get better seats.

So, no, very sorry.

Great coverage Joanie and all, I've enjoyed hearing about all the fun. Sounds like you had a great time.

We have one entry that is really, really close to having them all.

Only a few people have tried... anyone else want to take a chance? Or do we have a winner??

We have two winners in the Who Signed the Toolbag Contest!

Rock Chester and William Valavanis!

When I get a chance, I will circle the signatures and make a list of them. Good work, guys!

Joanie:

Can we see some of your trees? I would love to see what the workshop material looked like.

Thanks,

Matt

Yes, I am going to take pictures today. It was a busy weekend! The prunus mume and Hokkaido elm will end up in Show and Tell, the others are not ready for that yet.

I'm particularly pleased with the Trident maple cultivar that has leathery leaves which, according to the vendor, won't burn in the hot sun. She was selling them as shohin, but I bought an untrained one to be able to take cutting hopefully. This will be particularly good for our club members in the warmer areas... with any luck, and good timing, the cuttings will take and we can have a nice little stock of these trees in a few years.
