Summerville SC bonsai group?????

Hey guys and gals, new to the area (SC), new to the sight, and new to bonsai. Live in Moncks Corner. Does this group still meet. For right now Ive just been reading as much as I can and taking walks in the woods. Would love to get some exposure to bonsai and people involved in the art. Thanx

Ron Martin, the founding member of the Summerville group, and previously a frequent poster here, died last year. I don't have any information regarding any ongoing interest in the area.

Yes we are still alive and kicking. We would love to have you stop by for a visit. We normally meet the 2nd Sunday of each month from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Next month, April 13 we are going on a nursery trip to Green Thumb nursery in Greenville. If you are interested, let me know and I will give you direction to where we will meet, etc. Our May meeting is on May 18 (May 11 is Mothers day). Several of our newer folks have asked for a beginners bonsai workshop series which we are looking to set up. If you are interested, PM me and we can share information.

Jeff,
Are y'all doing a workshop at Green Thumb, or are y'all just shopping? Thats where our study group meets (which I'm disappointed didn't make it into the listing above from the ABS site ....but its inclusion wouldn't have been very helpful for someone looking for a study group in Summerville). John's a great guy. He's only 15 minutes from the house too, which is a plus.

Y'all have a great time,
wf

ps.I just repotted my shimp I got from Ron M on Thanksgiving '06.

Wayne,

We are just going shipping. A couple of our folks have full piggy banks and want to empty them. Being new to the south, I like to see what the locals have to offer. I am sure we will have a great day.
