New Jersey Club ???

I have a friend that is moving to Morristown NJ. Is there any bonsai clubs around there.
If so can you send me a PM with the contact information.
He would be an asset to any club. He has studied under some pretty heave hitters in the bonsai world.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ron, probably better to post it here, otherwise

1) We won't know if your question was ever answered
2) People that do know or live in NJ would probably benefit from the discussion, and might even learn about another club.

In any case, here's a couple of starts:

Bergen Bonsai Society - News and information about the New Jersey-based club
http://community.nj.com/cc/bergenbonsai

MidAtlantic Bonsai Society
http://midatlanticbonsai.freeserver...mber_Clubs.html

Great Swamp Bonsai Society. Meets second Tuesday of the month (usually) at 7:30 p.m. at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Hanover Ave., Morristown, NJ. Contact Joe Cicero 973-895-5335 email: joesbonsai@aol.com website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GreatSwampBonsaiSociety

Regards,

Matt

Ron:

I am a member of Great Swamp. we meet next Tuesday. It's a strong and active club. Dues, as I remember, are $35. Our members include nationally known experts and plenty of beginners. Jay (of Bonsai Talk) is also a member.

For our October meeting, Berni Gastrich from Connecticut and Yama Ki bonsai club will do a lecture/demo on bending large limbs successfully - an exciting advanced technique.

FWIW, MidAtlantic is the regional Association.

We'll look forward to meeting your friend. The Arboretum is on E Hanover Ave, East of I-287. If he's unsure of the location, he can drop me an eMail at Bartsai@optonline.net

Yup, Bart got it right... Both of us are members as are a couple of others who drop by this board now and then. We meet at the Arboretum in Morristown as stated above. I actually travel down from NY State for those interested. Will look forward to meeting your friend Ron, if he can make it.

Jay

His name is Richard Ziemenski. You met him last time you were at my shop. I'll give him your address and you two can talk direct. Thanks

Sure,
I remember Richard.

You should warn him that I'm among the minority in the club who do tropicals (and I don't know any member who has done well with serissas

We'll be glad to welcome him. He's nice people.

BTW, he'll be about an hour away from Chase Rosade's, where a lot of us go to continue our studies.

Thanks for the help.
By the way it was Richard's son that was doing the tropicals.
Richard is like me (poor guy) he can and does work with a wide variety of trees. Even tropical ones

Hi, Ron.

Yes, I remember our discussions with Derek about serissa

If Dick is planning to attend the meeting, please tell him it's the 14th, not "next Tuesday" as I posted.
