Logo needed - BC Bonsai
Help! I need generosity or ideas!
Our club, the BC Bonsai Society, is in need of a logo for our Web site, business card, and letter head. I do not have the technology nor skills to develop one, a budget, nor even a mandate from the executive. (I won't waste your time explaining this one!) I need something fairly quickly, at least with enough time to design and print a business card prior to our 2nd annual show, June 1st. I did a search for 'bonasi clip art' but either it has a $$$, a copyright issue, or it just doesn't work. When I polled the club for ideas, bonsaitalk.com was suggested. Sooo.... over to you! B. |

Not to be taken seriously

Take a photo of the clubs best tree. Put it in photoshop, set it grayscale and go from there.

Check out http://simplythebest.net/fonts/asian_fonts.html, in particular the Asian Dings and Kudasai fonts. Asian Dings has two bonsai images that might work for you, and the Kudasai font has an elegant Japanese feel. Both those fonts are free. Use a graphics program to make a logo from those fonts. Or do it in a word processor, take a screen snapshot, and crop it in a graphics program. You could also try to get a photo of a tree owned by a club member, taken against a light background, and turn it into a silhouette using Photoshop. A local species might be a good choice. If your Photoshop skills aren't up to the task, post a pic(s) you'd like converted, and I'll see what I can do. |

I have two logos you can have. I made both for Bchat, but for several reasons they didn't want them. If you think they look good enough, feel free to use any one of them.
edit: The text and background are easy to change.

Asus101, Gisbourne, Mindcrime, and Treebender,
Thank you very much for all your responses. I'm working with Treebender who is modifying one for me. As I explained to Mindcrime, the heavy tree in Treebender's logos is indicative of the evergreen dominant landscape here in the Vancouver, BC, Canada area. The thing about asking for help, is sooner or later you must accept an offer, but refuse others. The latter part is the most difficult! Humbly, Bgw |

No problem, Bgw. I happy you've found a logo that suits your needs!
