Well, Dale, they were pulling my leg. I know that someone else is in charge of the show ...
... but I'm sure I'm welcome to do all the lifting, carrying, word-spreading and meanial cleaning up I care to do ![]() I guess in a lot of clubs, there are lots of members and then a few really active members. At least, that jives with what little I recall from getting a masters in administration (that I have no use for, haha) pootsie |

Columbus has a nice show every year. It is in the main area upstairs at conservatory. also, in same area is an Ikebana display by the local Ikebana club. Last year there was the Chihuly exhibit at the same time. Still great crowds for that alone after several months!
Lifting/carrying huh? I will add that several of the columbus folks are VERY helpfull to the vendors to help them unload trucks and move stuff up to the vending area to setup. They also help bunches at teardown going the other way. This is REALLY APPRECIATED. I only remember one person ever doing that in Cleveland and he passed away a couple years ago. I'll bet the club sure misses Jimmy! Dale

Yes, Dale, I heard many times that Jimmy is terribly missed.
I promise you I will be happy to help load and unload for any vendor that shows up! Both for you and for the others, for whom I have greater sympathy after reading your posts. Vending at shows is not the glamorous existence we imagine it to be, eh? ![]() I helped a vendor tear down at the Cleveland show this past year, and got a free bag a haydite as a thanks. Certainly worth the effort! pootsie Last edited by pootsie : 23-Feb-2005 at 03:55 PM. |

For those who are interested:
The Columbus bonsai society meets at 2:00 PM on the third Sunday of every month. Meetings are held at the Franklin Park Conservatory, where the annual show is also held. Come join us if you can! pootsie |

Pootsie, I think that website needs a content bomb dropped on it. With some content there, people are likely to link to it for references and so forth.
Surely there must be a decade or two worth of club newsletters that someone could scan, OCR and put online? It would be a project for sure, but having good content is the best way to grow a site. If an older newsletter gets added every week, there would be a reason for people to bookmark and return. Regards, Matt

A couple other suggestions:
1)Hold off on the marketing effort until there is something (anything) there to see. 2) If you must promote for the sake of search engines or whatever, it would be best for the sake of human beings to: a) provide a date on the index page when some content will be in place so that people will come back. and/or b) Sign up for a free spam-mail account and put up an email address where people can sign up for notification when the site launches. Good luck with this and be sure to let us know when you're ready to open the doors! Regards, Matt
