Columbus Bonsai Society

I'm so excited! I just joined the club in my area and it's actually a living, breathing club that does stuff! The Columbus Bonsai Society

If you haven't heard, I recently moved from Cleveburg, O-hi-O to Columbus. The Clevo club is not what it used to be, although I was never a member when it was what it used to be, so all I know is it ain't all that. (I make sense sometimes) The club is just so lack-luster and unorganized and plain BORING!

I saw the Columbus show a few years back and it was much nicer than cleveburg as a whole (although a few individuals in the clevo club have outstanding collections)

But, the Columbus club is actually happening. The even just got a website, http://www.columbusbonsai.org, although there's nothing there yet. I plan on helping to make it something.

I went there for my first meeting and walked in and said "where do I sign up and what are my dues?" They were pleased to have someone eager to pay! they began the meeting with introductions around the room, which I think is a good idea.

I also donated a somewhat beat-up A.palmatum "bloodgood," for the club to do with as they saw fit. Instead of raffle or auctioning it, they gave it to a young boy who just joined. He's about 12 and was really excited for his new tree. heart-warming!

Please, help me google-bomb the new website if you can!

OK Poots, being not that technically savy, please tell me what "google-bomb" is, and why you'd want to do it to a friend?

It's a nice thing, in this case. I want to help get the club's brand-new website to register in the search-engine world.

Ahhhh. Well that explains alot about my google search results! I don't have a website, unfortunately, but I'm sure others will help you out.

Thanks
Brian

Pootsie,
We bombed it. The site is a bit light on content right now.
Jerry
Ps Columbus has a great group. I spent many a year down there at their shows.

"Light on content" is a bit light on description. Try devoid of, bereft of, barren of, miles away from, etc. But they just got the domain together a short time ago.

I hope, as a new member with some skilz on the internets, that I can make a contributution to the club by getting some content together quickly, at least in the form of a links page, mapping, etc.

I appreciate your compliments to my new home club. I noted that your name comes up on google before the actual club does

Are you coming back anytime soon?

Poots...most of the search engines have a page from which site submissions can be made for free. Also, getting sires to link to it is a good way of improving placing within search results.Be careful, you'll be club president before you know it!

Pootsie,

I share your excitement! I just joined the Green Mountain Bonsai Society, and have the feeling that I am soon to start the process of being elevated out of the bonsai wasteland I've been wandering thru for the past 3 years. It's going to be nice to have some directed instruction and advice; I've never had the luxury of being able to be in a club before. With all the experienced people/ other people interested in the art that I'll be able to interact with, I fully expect, and realistically I think, that I'll learn more in the next year than I've learned in the past 3. I'm really psyched!

Ok. had to share the joy.

Peace,

Toby

Toby:
SHARE THE JOY!
That's wonderful! I hope to give and get a lot with my new club. I alrweady feel very gratified to help that young man take one more step on his bonsai journey.

John:
President, eh? Ahhh, POWER!
When I came in, dues-check first, they also asked if I would help with the annual show. I said yes, so then they announced that I was in charge of the annual show -- in jest. Well, sort of in jest
