Club Flyer

Here is a flyer that I made up for the club that I am working on starting. If you guys can think of anything that I could do to make this a bit more appealing or any info that I should've added that is not there let me know.

Hi Jeremy, Is this club actual or on the net? I would drop the wording "no size limit to group members taken on continual basis". A bit ambiguous lol.
Good luck-- Ash

Have you considered where you will hold meetings when you get members? Are there any other local clubs?

I think your flyer should maybe have more information, bonsai is not exactly common in the US, so a little bit of finer print information might be good to spark the interest of someone that wants to know more.

Also, I would suggest you register another email address, one that's like ClassicCityBonsaiClub@hotmail or something, but not a personal email.

Jeremy:

I have some experience with finding meeting spaces, and most churches are willing to host nonprofit groups. You might want to get a small space and have an actual meeting time --- it can always be changed later.

Thanks again you guys,...what kind of other small print stuff should I add, ya think? something like "Bonsai is the Japanese art of miniature trees and landscapes, grown in pots or on rocks, now practiced worldwide and enjoyed by people of all ages, from all backgrounds." I did also register another email name for the club. I would like to eventually even have a website, my lil brother has a hosting site ,so I can get free whatever,YAY, FREE !!!

Where will this flyer be handed out, sent out, etc.? Is it going to be handed out at nurseries, online, in person, door to door? Makes a difference in the details required.

Are you just going to stand on the street corner and hand it to passersby? I'd guess that would probably require the "what bonsai is" explanation, for instance.

Zen et al.:

I moved this thread to the club section. It seems we've gone from a flyer to full-blown strategy session.

So, Zen, what are your goals here?

I don't know this avenue has been explored already, but what about asking a local lowe's, home depot, or nursery if you could host a simple demostration on a saturday in March or April?

You can buy most everything you need for Bonsai except for a pot at Home Depot, I know I have. You can buy the mulch, decomposed granite, peat, and other soil amendments, grow lights, lumber, concrete blocks for displays, hardware clothe for soil sieve and for screening at the bottom of a pot, fertilizer, and even the tree itself. As long as you don't show up looking like a hippie and pitch the sales idea to the manager first and set-up an interview they might just let you do it

I've spent tons of money at home depot for my bonsai needs

That is a great idea Soonami, or rather would be if I were inept enough in bonsai to be able to presume that I should give a demo of any kind. LOL Well,...I could, give one on just basically potting up a tree and the removal of some roots,...and a very rough styling, the thing is I REALLY hate public speaking,...public anything really, I get super nervous when i'm just playing guitar for 50-60 college kids.LOL, These flyers will most probably hang in a variety of places, some will go to the local nurseries, some to home improvement centers, some to the university on notice posts, others will just hang in local bussinesses that will allow me to hang them,...how is the earlier statement that I made about "Bonsai is,..." for this assortment of locations? You guys are great,...I know I seem repititous but Thanks and thanks again,...I'm just hoping that half the people who become a part of this club are half as decent as most of the people here.
