Bay Island Bonsai Exhibit

This year will be the 9th annual exhibit for the Bay Island Bonsai Club. This year will be the first for me as a club member, so I get to see everything the day before, and I also get to work If you can make it, I highly recommend it.

Exhibit Information

See you there,

Scott

Hi Scott,
I head out for intensive (Winter III) and then do the show. We'll see you on friday. Hope you have been on the moss prowl, it sounded pretty desperate last week, maybe the rains have helped a bit.

John

John,
There's been plenty of rain in the last week, so I'd guess moss will be available.

Al,
I looked up the Lee Institute, looks like a nice venue. What do you want me to try to save you, pots? I'm not sure until Friday what will be there, Boon has the list.

Pat,
Hope to see you Saturday!

Scott

Well,
The show is set up- after weeks of preparation by the members and the last three days of show tree prep (for Boon's and other trees in his yard) and ready to open in the morning. There was a veritable army of folks working to get the trees set out and the displays prepped. Was a great exercise in teamwork.

Hope to see folks there this weekend (JavaScott and I had some time to talk), BrianG and his new Swedish wife drove across town for a quick visit and some nasty comments about the deciduous trees taking up valuable space for the conifers, a great time was had by all.

Al, I don't know if you will get here in time.

John

Yes, there was a good number of deciduous trees, and like John stated, the setup was a great experience for me. We have one more day, hope everyone can make it out from the Bay Area-definitely a great show. I'll post some pics in the appropriate area soon.
Al, see you there tomorrow.

Fantastic show (it was well set up so therefore easy to skip past the nonconifers).

John,
The wife was real impressed with your Swedish and your pointers to her regarding her new career as a masseuse were spot on and well taken.

The show just gets better each year and I understand next year is their 10th and they plan on making it bigger and better. Looking forward to it already!

Brian,
I should probably PM this, but will take up bandwidth, Tell Mrs G, Ulva to her friends, that I am sorry that I misspoke and inferred strange ongoings with small woodland creatures, but my Swedish is somewhat rusty since my service days.

I will note that her blonde personage and evening attire (I didn't know that Bonsai shows were such formal attire affairs in Hayward) were quite the hit of the convention. Please apologize for the unfortunate effects of my cigar on her tube top.

Best wishes for good Bonsai,
John
