Big Smile

We had a great workshop with Pedro last night. This evening we have his L/D including a PowerPoint presntation. He's a wonderful teacher.

I worked on one of the trees I brought from Page Ranking (a Campeche or Haematoxylum).
Hacked it pretty good, dam that wood was hard!

And just where are the pictures to show?

Forgot to bring the camera to the workshop (I know...I deserve a "nudgie"). I'll take pics tonight though. I'll take pic of my campeche tree as well.

That's funny, I just noticed the built in program translated the initials "P.R." from my previous post (Puerto Rico) as Page Ranking (whatever that means)...

Is that Peter, the sad gentleman in the first post, next to the juniper?

Big Smile workshop with Pedro Morales

Just logged in today, the sculpture work has kept me away from the computer. Thanks for the pics Irene. Look forward to getting the CD. I hope folks did not think the ficus on the rock was to crappy. I am looking forward to the results of how Pedro taught us to get ramification. With our long season I have started the process already. I like working on natives so much that I have not learned much about ficus.

But I plan to change that--I think I have my better half convinced that we need to visit Pedro at the world Bonsai convention in San Juan, July '09. I have talked to few other folks from around here and there seems to be a few others too.

Congrats Dow on winning the subulata (nerifolia), very nice tree, where do you live??

Yes his name is Peter, but I did not think he was sad.
I have several of him smiling as well, but did not feel comfortable sharing the many expressions that I caught with the camera. I took over 200 pics this night and I try to capture the facial expressions of the folks working their trees. It shows the human aspect of the Artist while they are working out the tree in their minds....Most forget that I am taking pics (which is what I want).
It is something that I enjoy doing.

Say Hi to him from me, when you two next time meet. He is one of the most knowledgeable person that I have ever met, in the area of Japanese culture and aesthetics. He moved from Oklahoma, not so long ago.

Yes he did move here and we are most fortunate to have him as a member.

The L/D with Pedro came and went. We are sorry to see the master leave but he left a wonderful impression with our club. The gorgeous tiger bark ficus was raffled and it was won by.....Mr. Paul Tyler from the S. Antonio club. Irene, I suggest you make an effort to meet that tree in person while it is still defoliated. It is a beauty. Pictures will follow soon. I made it back home with a book autographed by the artist and a nice cutting...
