Workshop with Master Lee Wilson

Yesterday (Sunday) I enjoyed a workshop with visiting Australian Master Lee Wilson. I had a small black pine that I had chosen for the workshop. It's main two features are the very nice nebari at the front of the tree and the large old dead trunk that needs to jinned.

First picture is of the before shot of the tree from the front with the best view of the nebari.

Second picture is of the back of the tree which doesn't have the best nebari but nice branch placement.

Third picture is of the Lee explaining some of his thoughts about the tree.

The large dead branch needed to be reduced. Out came the big branch cutters.

Also attached is the finally pic of the tree. I got out the dremel and with the help of the carving king Quentin the dead old trunk became a nice jin. Although in the photo the jin is currently covered by a branch, which will most likely be removed in the future, I believe this tree will look quite good in 3-5 years time. I still need to wire the top and bend it more towards the right and also need to clean up the jin.

Now that's a useful link! Nothing like a local bonsai club that's not afraid to let people know where they are! It looks like you folks have a great turnout.
