Trident From On Line Work Shop
Some of you will remember the work shop that I tried to do on line.
Even though I don't feel that the workshop was very well recieved some of you might want to see how this tree is progressing. This is the second pruning and the second wiring since the workshop. The new crown is comming along and there are limbs below the healed chop which was one of the requested changes, The new chop is healing well and should be almost gone by next fall. Here is the new picture.

Rips, I don't remember the workshop. Could you give the link or pics from it?

Work shop
Doody: I would think that it is still in the arcives. Let me search through my posts and see if I can find it. If I can't I know that Matt can.

You know, I'm very jealous. Here in Illinois I can't find a single store selling Trident maples. I've shopped for miles around, nothing. The Bonsai store I visit says they may have cuttings for sale next spring.. but there doesn't appear to be anywhere I can get older stock from.

Ceberon, you can order them from here. http://www.evergreengardenworks.com/
I have orderd from Brent and he picks out good material for bonsai. You can email him and tell him what you are looking for in the tree and he will do his best to find one that meets your needs.

Or - Mountain Maples
You might check out Mountain Maples - even if you don't buy from them - their web site is a wonderful resource on maples. They sell a lot of material specifically grown for bonsai - from cuttings instead of grafts.

Rip, It's coming right along. How long do you figure it will take the new leader to fill in and cover the chop?

Tony I suspect that it will be pottable in about two years. I have directed one branch specificly over the chop to hide it, this branch should be well ramified by the end of the next growing season.
KZ: Here is the line of the new leader.
