Thanks for sharing this. Your thumbnails for the first yew did not come through for the before and after. The second yew did. I am curious as to what the demonstrator was getting at with this tree. Did he explane a plan, or did he just keep cutting until he had to stop somewhere? No insult intended but unless he has something in mind I am surprised that was the best he could get out of this tree.

I can see the thumbs. You might need to click REFRESH or RELOAD on the browser menu if you have a red X or something. When there are a lot of images on the page, the first time the page loads it needs to make all the thumbnails.

Very nice demo, either one of those trees alone would be an ambitious undertaking for a demo. Thanks for posting!

Regards,

Matt

Ted did a demo at the San Diego club last meeting, and he was a wonderful, inspirational speaker. His insights and his enthusiasm made it one of the most enjoyable demos I have seen. He did a sumo liquidamber.

Chop chop chop cut prune chop yep gonna have to go chop prune chop cut yep a little more cut cut cut....snip.....

Took a really good sized tree and made it...well....about six inches tall.

Loved it!

First Yew,
Lots and lots of dead wood.
Everything except for the live vien going up the side will be carved.
He said it will look like a 2000 year old tree that has gone through everything, and something caused the top to die off.

Second Yew,
He did not go a whole lot into the destination desired with this tree, just many many many many years of refinement ahead. A rough out line is all there is now.

Hope this helps,
-Paul
