I'll start up again where I left off, Sumi-e demo by Jan Zaremba.
Since it was a Pine theme-type-day he did a Pine painting. It was so cool watching him. Light strokes, heavy daps, quick wisps. I was spellbound and slightly confused as he went along but with each section, a couple strokes later it would all come together. He even made this big blob at the bottom and I thought to myself Ahhhh he made a mistake....does he crumple up the paper now and toss it aside?
Not seeing any crumpled up paper around I soon realized why. A couple strokes and a few dabs later....It was a bird. The most perfect bird.

He will have a U-tube video soon for all to watch him work. I can't wait.
Here are a few progression shots on the Pine Painting. Check out 0564 and you will see the bird. I really like this one.

Here are some of his works he had on display. My poor photography doesn't do him justice.

Next we had a great lecture on Tokonama display by John Romano.

They have a section of the main greenhouse set up for this. There is always something really nice on display.

John's passion is Shohin so he graced us with some of his works for the lecture. I think I could turn over an old tin pot and stick one of his trees on it and it would look great.

Oh looky! Cookies!! I must admit this was upsetting. I went to hunt these down later after just one sampling and they were nowhere to be found.

Okay by this time the Class on White Pines with Bill Tippin was underway. Earlier he gave a lecture on the basic care and now he was helping some folks with their Pines.
