Spring Bonsai Festival New England Bonsai 5-10-08

Okay who we got going to the Festival this Saturday?
It should be a really good time. Bill Tippin is doing a FREE lecture/demo and a class on White Pines.

John Romano is doing a FREE lecture on Tokonama displays and setting up some with Pines.

I really want to see the Sumi E brush Painting demonstration.

If any folks are up here in Maine toss me a PM and maybe we can orgainize a trip down.

Lotsa good times and the sales are starting. Wouldn't be surprised if Irene showed up.

Now you've done it Tim! The vendor will be running for cover or bar the door

Don't flay yourself mentally when you make a mistake or when something bad happens. Just pick yourself up from the god-awful mess you’ve made, say to yourself "I must make a note not to do that again." and go on to the next step, of the hundred or so that remain.

hehe This is the real joy of conversing with great artists here. You know when they speak it's from oodles of experience.

Hey! Looks like you'll be having a party of your own Tom.

I'll be there but only in the morning. I'm kinda bummed about that, but there's no way around it. It's Mom's day weekend...us married guys with kids and moms living nearby have responsibilities that even supersede our addictions.

It was a pleasure meeting you two there. Hope we can attend some classes together in the future.
The day was a blast and I got tons of pics.

I'll start with the nursery itself.

Heres the entrance, a shot from the little hill next to the driveway and a view of the many huts and sales tables.

Wink

Here are the two owners Hitoshi and Teddi. And a shot of John Romano the resident teacher. In this shot John is begging me to take his Shohin Ponderosa Pine but I couldn't.

Wonderfull people. They make it feel like a home away from home. Although I have been kicked out around 6 on several occasions.

The day started with a Free lecture on White Pines by Bill Tippin. http://www.tippinguitars.com/home/ Does pretty well with guitars as well. We got a chance to see some restyling on a massive White Pine. I'll have to wait and post those later.

Heres some shots of Bill and John (in the background) going over the basics of White Pine care and training.

Next was a Free Sumi-e demo by Jan Zaremba. http://janzaremba.com/I had always missed his visits to the nursery so this was really nice to finally meet him. His work is amazing but watching him work is a true pleasure.
