Boon

I recently studied with Boon and he really opened my eyes to bonsai. Before I studied with Boon, I would never touch a tree. I would just think and think and think about what to do and I would just end up going to one of the local clubs and they would cut and wire my trees for me.

After Boon's course, I jump right in and cut and wire. Not sure that I have the artistry down, but at least I'm doing things for myself now. I eagerly await the next learning session with Boon.

I highly recommend taking one of Boon's intensives!!!

Chris,
Another fine installment on your blog-I've been growing everything in the same mix for 3+ years now, and no complaints here. It really does the trick. I also laughed out loud (something I don't usually do) when I read the two negatives about Boons soil mix. Thanks for doing this again.

Scott

It's funny, I posted on IBC in a thread about soil and messed up the link. Several people accused me of being dogmatic without even having read the post!!!

Really? If only they understood this was something that we've learned, there isn't any arrogance to it. I would love to be able to ship a small bag of the mix to every person that didn't want to try it, and just have them try it for a season. Proofs in the pudding-and my pudding is just great!

I know the thread on BC (soil with no organic components). I thought Chris's post was excellent; very informative and useful. I enjoyed reading the interview with Boon too. I agree with his philosophy (what I know of it from the interview at least). I didn't see anyone accuse Chris of dogmatism though.
