Marc Noelanders workshop

Hi all,

A while ago I did a workshop with Marc Noelanders. He's one of the best Bonsai Artists we have here in Europe and it was quite an experience ! For the occasion I bought a Yew at the nursery where the workshop took place. It was the most expensive plant I bought sofar, but I guess you can't bring just any material when working with someone like Marc. Anyway here's the before :

And the finished product. I will repot it next year. That will give me some time to save money for a pot this size :=/ I had a great day and learned a lot from Marc. I hope I will get a chance to work with him again !

greetings, René

What a wonderful transformation! I think the $30 foliage on the floor was a small price to pay for what remains, and it really does look a lot like the sketch.

On another note, it looks like Marc had envisioned "hanging" the first branch on the left whereas the wired bonsai seems to be a lot less inclined. Are you just moving it a little for now?

Maybe a guy wire from the middle of that branch over to the jin at the base would help and give you some adjustment capability over time..

REMEMBER FOLKS - This forum will let you rate threads using the pulldown box at lower right. The popular threads will receive a special icon on the index page. What it is, I don't know because it needs two votes to get one. Hint hint!

Regards,

Matt

Hi Rene: you are one lucky dude. I got to meet Marc at the GSBF convention in LA in 1998. He signed my bonsai apron, along with John Naka. He is a very likable guy, always stops to give his autograph to the tourists. Who furnished the stock that you bought? And what does one have to give for material like that?
