Black Pine Class pics New England Bonsai

Last Saturday we had the our spring Black Pine class at NEB. We couldn't have wished for a more perfect day and had the class outside under the tent. If you listened carefully you could hear the screams of agony and jelousy coming from the class going on inside. What a beautiful day.

John Romano was our teacher. Everyone brought so many trees I know I didn't get half with my camera.

Here's what I did get.
Just look at these nice Pines.

Wow, for $45 bucks? Thats a nice JPB. Did they all look that nice? I mean the bark on that is nice and thick, definitely a nice old tree to start working with.

I just did a workshop at Nature's Way in Harrisburg, PA. I will post some pics soon. Trees were 8-9 years old but the bark wasn't as nice as the pics you posted.

Although not JBP here was a new technique for wiring.

Really interesting. You take a thick wire to use as the spine and secure it to the tree with string. Once the string shows signs of biting into the tree you just add new string and cut the old. or vice versa
I'll have to check the price on coils of string.

Trees were extra but I think most of us had our own trees we've been working on for years. I had 4 to pester John with.

I attend every year and it's great to see folks come back with the tree they picked up last year or a really old one you see every few years.
