Bonsai collection management software

Hi all,

I am proud to announce that version 1.0.1 of my Bonsai collection management software is out.
This is free software for both meanings of the word.
You can read more about it at
http://otetsudaiqt.sourceforge.net and download it

at http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/...up.exe?download.

Binaries are for almost any version of Windows except W 95. Works also under GNU/Linux or any Unix-like systems.
Mac Os X support is feasible, and in fact may appear soon.
German support should appear around september or october.
People interested for other language support may freely contact me, I am willing to support as many languages as possible.

Thanks for letting us know.

I hope to find time this coming weekend to check it out.

Good luck with this and any future developments.

Has any one else had time to evaluate this?

Regards,
Ian.

I would be interest in a Mac OSX version. I am just a die hard Apple guy, guess that is why I like crabapple bonsai so much.

jjetter,

I am currently working on the OsX build, I only have an old 12" G4 powerbook at the moment... so it takes some time to rebuild everything. OT2 1.0.1 should be bundled as a Tiger universal binary this week.

Ian_Homer,

I have used ot2 for a week or two, it is pretty nice... see my post about "requirements for bonsai managament software". I stopped coding my own after finding out about OT2

Lanig,

it looks like you can disregard the "bug building universal QT" message I left on PB, it builds fine now (a "make clean" fixed it). I'll probably bundle OT2 tomorrow, if time (and wife) permits.

Very nice program. Just wondering if there is a way to add different species in the tree species dropdown.

Thanks very much for the program.

Ross.

Hi,
The changelog can be seen by clicking on the book icon on sourceforge download page.
Here is a copy.
I feel that the bug fixes alone make worth upgrading.

  • bugs in default picture managment
  • some spelling mistakes
  • corrected bug which prevented the programm to run correctly on non english or french systems (e.g. german)
  • Fixed bug on tab tittle
improvements:
  • new full fledged windows installer
  • display values (start, number to show, sorting order etc) remembered from one session to the next
  • new dialog to easily choose the default pic of a tree

  • for pots, shape is not required anymore
  • HTML export assistant now allow to choose a background image and a cascading style sheet. A default style sheet is proposed in the app folder.
  • double click on a pot, photo or tree summary opens the complete view in a new tab
