Weeping Cherry
I have a gorgeous 20 foot tall Weeping Cherry in my front yard, and I'm thinking of air layering a branch for a bonsai. Has anyone air layered this species?
When should I start (I'm assuming early spring)? When might the roots be ready? |

Re: Weeping Cherry
I've had some success taking cuttings from my 'White Showers' weeping cherry.
You can find some info about cuttings here: http://www.gsbf-bonsai.org/cuttings.htm and more if you search bonsaiTALK Links under CUTTING or LAYER Cherries are what I call a "two-week bonsai," similar to wisteria, where the blooms come and go in just a fortnight and you're left with oversize leaves, but the show is worth it! Regards, Matt
