trident seedlings

I have several trident maple seedlings that are still in the flat.
They were germinated last winter. They are from 6" to 12" tall
with very skinny trunks.

Any info on whether or not to top trim or not.Root trimming.
And repotting would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Re: trident seedlings

Hi There

depending on how many you have and what your plans are, go to www.dugzbonsai.com and take a look at what he does with trident seedlings.

Cheers

Re: trident seedlings

RP: Depending on where you are at you may consider planting your trident seedlings out into a bed or the ground if you will. You will find that if you pruin them back three or four times a year you will get the trunk and tapor that you want and still keep the top of the tree under control. If you are able to start your bonsai in the ground you will attain your goals so much quicker.

Re: trident seedlings

So at this point you think I should just snip the top pair of leaves off?
