Surefire Way to Propagate?
Everyday I go for a walk I see these two trees. They are a dark color and right now have some reddish-brown buds on the tips of the branches. The awesome thing about them is the shape - they look evil! The branches twist and shoot out randomly, and there is some damage from past storms/lightning which makes them even nicer.
I was wondering if I could simply walk by and grab a branch - would there be any way to grow from that? Also, I don't know the species, so is there any general method to use? Thanks ![]() |

Re: Surefire Way to Propagate?
Air layering is about the only sure-fire propagation method. Works with most species. Some require just a few months, others (conifers mainly) may take up to 2 years.
Regards, Matt

YOU CAN NOT RUSH TIME

Re: Surefire Way to Propagate?
Hi... You say ...Walk by and grab a branch... Does this mean these are not your trees? Do you have permission to 'take' parts of them! Be careful, airlayering or doing cuttings from trees is OK if you have permission of the owner!
