Seedling Questions
K let me try and make some sense here =)
1. To prevent damping off can I mix a fungicide with my water or should i stick with hydrogen peroxide, and should I use the same mixture again after a week or so. My concern is that either combination may hurt the seedlings. 2. I read that after the seedlings begin forming leaves, besides the cotyledon, it is good to give them some fertilizer. Is that a good recommendation? and if so What N-P-K ratio would be good for the seedlings without causing any damage? 3. What is the optimum planting soil mixture? I'm currently using a sphagnum vermiculite mix. Thanks in advance for all the great answers. I love this forum pretty soon no more dead seedlings.... |

Re: Seedling Questions
Kevin
You make perfect sense. Your sterile mix is great for seed starting. I would not do a preventive fungicide drench. Wait until the first signs of trouble. I have started zillions of seeds in 100% verrmic and have little damping-off. I don't fertilize at all until the seedlings are up and hardened off,say about June-July and then only very lightly.
