Should I Cut The Foliage On A Cutting?

Should I cut the foliage on this cutting? I just cutted it today, and put it in a cup of water so it will start growing roots, once the roots start sporting I will plant it in a small cup of soil.

(Ficus Carica)

what is it a cutting of?
generaly, i don't take cuttings and put them in water to root unless it's of the willow variety. i've had some success with pyracantha/firethorn but not much else has worked for me with straight water. others may disagree or have their own tales to tell.
i get the best results when i utilize some rooting hormone after taking two thirds of the growth/leaves off the cutting and place the cutting in a soil less medium (ie: pro mix or seed starter) and keep under a plastic dome (mini greenhouse).

best of luck. here's a good link to help with cuttings in much greater detail.

Amorosa this particular variety is usually rooted in the ground in winter when it is dormant. I have never had one to root any other way, but am sure inteerested to see if it works for you. Keep me posted. I have several different varieties of this fig. One even makes a fig about the size of a regular coffee cup. Good luck man!

I've never heard of using Tylenol but I've heard of using aspirin as a rooting hormone. You probably don't need it anyway. You should get some roots growing from those nodules anytime now.

I think I'd go ahead and pot it up. 50-50 coarse sand and good quality potting soil.
