Propagating Bloodgood Japanese Maple
I am getting back into this hobby again after a bit of a break ,actually I killed several plants and just got discouraged .
Even when I went to a garden centre and asked about bonsai I was shown a huge rock that two 4" plants and all kind of other embellishments and was told that this is the style they bring in ( for only $375.00) I mentioned before that I bought my wife a Bloodgood Maple a few years ago as it is one of her favorite trees and when I started into this I was warned off it . However it now could use a little TLC and I would like to use this to my advantage and save some of it for myself . While there are several good article here on how to ie : air layering etc. I have been unable to find oue WHEN . As it is we are having a rotton June it has only gotten above 15 C twice this month ,only 8C now and rain I would really appreciate either some guidence in this endeaver or being pionted in the right direction andbeing given a kick closer . Thanks FnM

You want to air-layer some plants from your Maple and want to know the best timing, Is that right?
Maple puts out roots quickly. I have several on an in-ground tree with tons of roots already this year. Sounds like spring is just beginning in your area. I would get out there and do it today, Good luck!
