preparing red pine seed

I have read a few things, but they don't all seem to agree. What's the best way to get these guys pushing little baby pines in spring?

Seedling

Which "red" pine are ya talkin about? I have worked with P. densiflora(JRP). I soaked the seeds for 24 hours then placed in a ziploc baggie with moist seed starter mix and placed in the fridge for 30-60 days(i did the 30) and then sowed just below the surface of peat pellets(what i used). I had better results this time than this time last yr. My first run only produced 2.
