Mature Hedera Helix max cutting size?
Dear sources of knowledge,
while coming back from work today, I discovered that the city had cleaned some trees/shrubs/vines just next to home. I did a quick selection on the floor and came back with a mature Hedera Helix cutting. We're talking of a "3cm base trunk tapering to a 6mm top, 20cm high with a lot of interesting movement, branches already more or less where I'd like them and aged looking bark" cutting here ![]() I quickly cleaned it, dressed it, dipped it in rooting hormone and planted it in a sand/pebbles/seedling soil mix. Is there a reasonable chance of success or should I go back and take smaller cuttings? Thanks in advance, Mike |

I have ivy vine practically smothering a tree in my backyard that has sections more than 5cm in diameter and they root very well, often without rooting hormones if they are kept warm and moist. I think you shouldn't have a problems with yours

Soonami,
thanks for the quick answer! I'll setup a tent tomorrow morning to keep it moist. Mike |
