Korean Hornbeam cuttings
Excuse me if this has been discussed before but I was curious if anyone would happen to know how long it generally takes for Korean Hornbeams to root from cuttings. I would assume that it probably follows the typical 4-8 weeks with most deciduous trees but I also read it can vary. Anyone specifically have experience with this?
No bottom heat is being applied in this application. I am following the same method I used to root my Chinese Elm cuttings for these new cuttings, which is pete and perlite mix with about 80-90% humidity and rooting hormone. Only this time I decided to try leaving the makeshift greenhouse outside the entire time where as with the elm cuttings I left them on a south facing windowsill indoors for 2 weeks and 2 weeks outside, they all struck but I lost 2 because our lovely cat got curious and decided to try and eat them... Bad kitty! Thanks guys & gals! Scott Last edited by bonsaibuckaroo : 13-Jul-2006 at 07:45 PM. |

Chinese Elm root very well, so you might be a bit disappointed with your experience with the hornbeam, especially without bottom heat.
