IsSowing Seeds Indoors OK?

Hi All!
A great group you have here, I am glad I found it. I first became interest in bonsai about 24 years ago, but I was too young to really start. Now I wish to start again and I have been looking into my options. I purchased some seeds online of a Japanes Pagoda Tree,(sophora japnica) and I have sown them in vermiculite. They have just sprouted, but now I am concerned that they may need to be outside. Is it okay to sow seeds indoors this early, or do I need to move them outside? It is too cold out here in NW Indiana, and it will be a several months more before the last frost. I also ordered some maple seeds, but am I going to run into the same problem with those? What seeds can I sow indoors for later transfer to outdoors? I appreciate the advice!

If you won't get run out of the house, you can get an inexpensive flourescent fixture of the type that holds 2' long shoplight bulbs and install some floursecent gro-lites in it. Then hang that over your seed bed just 10-12 inches above the seedbed. Set it on a 12 hour timer.

You could probably run it all night and keep and the warmth will keep the night chill away, too.

Regards,

Matt

Thanks for the info! I ran out and bought a light fixture and bulbs. Kinda strange though, it costs $10 less to get a 4 foot fixture with gro-lights than a 2 foot fixture at the home improvement store....
