Growing seeds under lights

Hi All

Has anyone started any maples or any other seeds under fluorescent lights?

I live in Canton, OH and I was wondering if I could get a head start on some seeds this winter in my basement under my lights I use for my tropical plants.

Any info would help.

Thanks

John

I have grown seeds under ligth/indoor.

The problem is lack of light. Seedling will become leggy.

I had my four fluorescent light at a maximum of 6 inch from the top of the seedlign at any time. This got me some nice dwarf pomegranate.

any pics?

I ask because I am in the design phase of building a tropical "house" that will also be home to some seedlings...

Here is a photo of the rack I made. Cost me about 40$ The rack is missing the foil plastic that was wrap around to help diffuse light.

Bottom shelves was for germination, helped by an heatmat.

Top shelf was for more mature plants.

All lights were ajustable with chains.
