Wich Grafting Technique ?

In the spring next year ill be grafting a branch on an Amur maple.

Im looking at different technique for grafting :

1) As shown, using a knife : http://webpages.charter.net/wbshell/garden/graft6.htm

2) Using the Plugger grafting bit :
http://www.leevalley.com/garden/pag...y=2,42706,40719

Is that any good ? Wich method do you use. If you can provide a link, it would be excellent.

Thanks
Patrick

never seen that plugger. I would be interested in trying it. Ive always done the side veneer graft from the first link in propagating Japanese maples. I think the plugger would probably leave less of a scar though. Just my opinion. Anyone else here use the plugger? Im interested as well.

Whats interesting about the plugger is :

Quote:
The bit has exactly the same taper as a standard pencil sharpener.
