Good buy to start propagating?

i recently bought some Clonex red (little farther down on the page), i only bought this kind cause it says its more potent and also was only a couple more dollars... And also a root riot plant starter

Im thinking that i could plant some cuttings from my ficus or juniper, Maybe get a cutting from my lilac tree outside Or maybe the honey suckle. Maybe just plant a couple flowers too... something fun. Ya never know!

Just somethin to mess with i guess. Maybe get a couple little trees started hopefully, but who knows. like i said, Just an experiment.

Wow, that looks pretty nifty. I'm curious how well it performs. It's got to be better than the miracle gro powdered stuff I've tried. I've never managed to get a single cutting to root using that stuff.

Keep us posted on how well it works for you!

Well the stuff came in the mail yesterday i took 7 cuttings and on the package of the rooting hormone it said there will be lots of roots within 1 or 2 weeks, thats pretty quick.

But hopefully its true. im not entirely sure. But it sounds like it could work. So hopefully it does

Hey Guys...

"Two weeks" sounds a bit spooky to me...suspect!

I would try Dyna-Grow - KLN Liquid Rooting Concentrate

I’ve been using Dyna-Grow products since 1998, and they work well for me…with my fast draining soil. Over nine years in the Southern Arizona, Tucson and Oracle, Desert.

Works for me...it might work for you. Or not.

update: I took some cuttings off my scheff and a couple off my juniper and dipped them in the rooting hormone, then stuck them in the plant starter tray. Soo i guess the only thing to do now is to wait and see when they grow roots or if they do at all.

It says check in a week and then check the 2nd week... But i highly doubt anything will be growing that fast, Maybe a month or so!

The picture shown on their web site rooted is Basal. This is a very fast growing annual herb and it does root in days by just placing a cutting in water.
So don't expect anything like this result from a Juniper, more like 3-6 months. The Scheff does root faster so you could get roots in 1-4 weeks.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I use Clonex and root riot for my Sageerethia and Ulmus cuttings, the tiny hole in the root riot cubes is a perfect fit for my mini cuttings. They do root so that 4-5 tiny white roots come out of the cube in about 2-3 weeks. But then again, then alot of roots are "contained" in the cube, so i actually prefer rooting in my normal substrate, makes it so much easier in getting the correct rootspread for a good nebari when replanting. Havent tried any other roothing hormone then Clonex, but for this springs batch (about 50 Sag and 50 Ulmus) theres 100% rooting success.

Advise wait till the roots are abundant in the pot, don't pull the cutting out to check for root growth every couple of weeks. Watch for new growth it's safer.
