Question ginko seeds

I recently got some ginko seeds. The directions that came with the seeds said that they were already "cold stratified?" to soak them 24-48 hours in lukewarm water and that they should "swell". Well they haven't swollen.

The directions also said something about using a file along one of the sides? Well if I do that, do I soak them another 24 hours. Will that help them swell? I assume they must be swollen before I can plant them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

why don't you file them up, give 'em a soak and see what happens?

You need to get moisture through the seed coat to trigger germination. It would happen eventually in the ground, but might not be something you're willing to wait for.

Regards,

Matt
