ficus cuttings
is there a max width on the ficus cuttings? whats the best way to root wide ones? i have this magic water that has been in the same gallon jug the whole summer. i has algea growing in it and it doesnt stink at all. everything i put in there roots. i think that ive rooted so many things in there also makes it better. but maybe theres a better way still for thick ones if anybody knows.

The magic water doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but if it works for you...
Ficus are very easy to root in sterile media. I've heard of good success with cuttings up to two inches in diameter. Although air-layering, if you can do it seems like a much safer and more effective way to propagate ficus |

Agreed....Ficus are one of the more easier species to propagate.

For giggles, (probably unnecessary, but you want to increase your chances with the larger cuttings) try some rooting hormone. If nothing else it might give you a more even distribution of roots all the way around, though I've never had a problem rooting ficus.
Or you could stick it in water and it'd probably throw roots, although some say those roots aren't the best when you put them into soil.

Cuttings rooted in water tend to have much more brittle little roots and they dry out very quickly in soil as they are acustomed to hypotonic water and not to all the minerals and elemental constituents in the soil.
Good luck with the cutting, and if it doesn't strike you can basically try all year long as ficus are actively growing nearly the entire year long |
