bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

I would like to build something like this but I'm hesitant to trust this website because it's trying to get you to buy an ebook/make-money-at-home program or something. Would this be effective for propagating cuttings? Initially I threw together something with a plastic tray, wire, and cellophane but I need something more sturdy if I'm gonna leave it outside.

Edit: I can't link directly to the page I want but I'm referring to the "simple, homemade plant propagation system" link on the left side.

Looks like it should work. Painting on the aquarium may or may not be necessary, depends upon your dappled shade area... but yeah, the general idea is universal.

I'm planning to build another type of homemade plant propagator, using an ultrasonic fog generator (single head, around $30 with the extra cost of $5 for a new ceramic plate every 3 months). I've been following a few threads explaining the problems with the system and I just plan to use them to jumpstart the root system production on difficult species. Up to now, I'm under $50 for the necessary parts and just need some time to actually assemble it. Most of the home built ones I've seen used small pond baskets with hydrocks inside and water with a bit of superthrive.

Hope that helps,
Mike
