Cuttings Under 70* F

I hear that it is best to keep cuttings above 70*f. Well Here in Ohio/ late August, our days are avereging 80*, but our nights are dropping to low 60's. Should I be bringing my cuttings in at night.

Bringing them inside every night probably isn't very practical, and it would probably disturb the cuttings, That (70 degree stuff) is just a good minimum temperature for optimal root growth. A better solution would be a heating pad on a timer or thermostat.

I don't know what you're rooting but hopefully, some will have struck by end of fall. Not too much (good) is going to happen over the winter.

Regards,

Matt

Most of them are azalea's, and the rest I am trying to find out. I posted a tree ID in the secies specific forum to find out what they are.

I've been making quite a few cuttings lately (and so far they're working nicely), of some Azalia's, weeping willows, chinese quince, and an unknown tree which I have yet to identify. It's been dropping to around 60 degrees every night around here (chicago area), but so far the cuttings seem to be quite happy, still rooting pretty quickly.
