Post Cuttings

happy new year !!!!!
well it's cold and bleak here in southern ontario and i have fiddled/pruned/wired/coaxed etc.. my potensai ficus and fukiens'. however, i find myself staring outside at my partially frozen pond and at the junipers (blue pacific and procumbens nana) which surround it. they need pruning in the spring for sure but what i'm wondering is.... what would be the harm in cutting a bit now and trying to root the cuttings in say perlite and peat..?? any advice would be appreciated. thanx in advance.

An excellent winter pastime. Bottom heat, rooting hormone, lots of warm moisture, before long "Bmor's bonsai nursery". Go for it

thanx nut. so no probs cutting dormant junipers and bringing them inside to root? i realize i'll get them back outside in spring but had just never tried such and endeavour. there'll be a ton of cuttings and i'm sure some will meet an untimely demise but it'll be fun to try.
