Re: cold stratification
I am new to the growing from seed thing, but last winter I started a little. I cold stratified a number of different species. Most of them, after the soaking, were cold stratified in sterile gauze. I got the gauze damp, then squeezed out all of the moisture, and wrapped the seeds, then put them into Ziploc bags. I don't know if this was wise, but about 80% of the seeds have sprouted and are doing great.
