Christmas Tree Cuttings

Ok I know lots of newbies ask this question around this time of year.

Can I take a cutting from a Christmas tree?
Lets say its a Douglas fir...
Lets say that the tree has been cut about 3 weeks....
Even though its still green can I still take a cutting from it?

Why would you want to? There are more species that would do a far better job at making a formal upright conifer type tree. Doug. fir and noble fir do not do well in pots, they have large root systems, and they grow in rather northerly latitudes. That said, taking a cutting just for an experiment would be a nice project, but I think as bonsai material there are better choices. Redwood would be the obvious choice since it is tough, fast growing, reduces well, takes to training, and will hold up in a pot for long periods of time. It also grows well in a large range of conditions.

Thanks al. I didnt know there were redwood Christmas trees. Or are there?
I was planning on more of an experiment than Bonsai material. I just like to propegate stuff.
