Question chinese elm propagation question

hi all. im new to this forum. I have a question about some chinese elm cuttings that i started a while back. Basically, I put a bunch of cuttings in some water after pruning my elms. Its been several weeks and some of them have bugun to grow new leaves out of the buds, but their are no signs of roots. Should i be excited or this is happening because they have some food stored away and will eventually die after a couple more weeks.

You may be rewarded with some water roots. These roots are less tough then soil roots. When you transfer the plant to soil, that may be the time you lose it. Elms are tough though, and you may have some rooted cuttings to grow out. Good luck, Al

Put them in soil and put a plastic bag around them but not touching the cuttings....they are suppose to root fairly easy? Up the humidity(in the container) and using rooting hormone is a plus.
