I think you stab the picks through the foam cup and into the seed holding it in mid air, then cover the seed with water. You need to seal the holes if you don't use styrofoam cups. just something I remember from a science thing. I am not sure if it's 100% correct

Hey, Thanks!

I remeber that part of the process, the prob is I don't know which end goes in the water. I know it is important. I guess I will try a few w/ different tips in the water. The ones I have been trying have split, and I don't think I got the end right.

Thanks again.

I have several avocados that I started from seed. Here's what I did: poke 3-4 toothpicks around the seed to act as a support structure. Put the toothpicks about 1/3 the way down from the small end of the seed. Rest the toothpicks (seed included) on the rim of a glass and fill with water to cover half the seed. The seed should be positioned with the fat end down. Now...wait. Be sure and change the water regularly to reduce fungal growth. I found that if I broke the seed coat, the tree sprouted faster, but it was still several weeks before I ever saw any roots. I was JUST about to throw them out when they sprouted...maybe they read my mind! Good luck!

Don't you need to make sure and keep the seed in the dark? Either cover it with something or just put it in a cuboard?

I didn't keep mine in the dark, but that's not saying it isn't a good idea. Honestly, I don't know if it would help with germination or not. Why not do a test...place one in the dark and another in the light and see what happens?

Hello!

Put the seed half buried in the pot,
with the roundest part downwards.
Keep the soil very moist.

This method works very well.

Regards.

Sorry for my english.
