Hi Paul, I,ve grown baldies from seed for the past three seasons, the seed has come from two different (commercial) sources, I,ve just soaked the seeds for 24hrs and planted as normal in late spring and found germination quick and reliable, This spring I over ordered on seed so dished them out to as many people as possible, from bonsai people to old gardeners. they all found them easy and grew them in everything from totally inorganic to wet peat, good luck, Andrew

I guess planting them in wet soil before they sprout, could be considered soaking.
