I've tried with no success from a BC in my yard. I've since found out that some suggest putting the seeds in some sort of chemical (I forget exactly which....alcohol maybe) that breaks down the oily substance that surrounds the seeds in the pod.
Good luck, WF

Yes, I've grown em' from seeds. I live in zone 10 in South Florida, what I did was just drop the seeds in a container of sand half submerged in a bucket of water, they were kept moist and warm in the Spring sun and sprouted in a couple of weeks, when they were a week old, I filled the container up with water to the edge of the pot, they've been growing fine ever since....growing them in water helps to develop the roots....that was 2 1/2 years ago, I will remove and redevelop the branches once the trunks are ready....here's one of the 1/2 dozen I am growing....

Paul,
Hopefully this article of mine will be of some help. Scroll down until you get to the part about sowing from seeds. You'll find the answer to the most tricky part about sowing the seeds. The Article Good luck and let me know how they come out. I planted mine in March down here in Dixie. You might want to wait until April up there. Whenever, make sure you keep them from freezing when they start to pop out. ![]()

hi Thomas J.,
I read your article and saw where you let the seed cone sit in water for a few months....what I do is just break it open once it falls from the tree and separate the seeds , which then get scattered in a bucket of wet sand....they could be pressed in a little, just want to make sure they stay wet and warm....the best time for this is just before spring down here in the south when the March temps have started warming the air....a very informative article by the way.

Glad you liked the article, and thanks for chiming in to offer some help here.
Hopefully from one of us they will be able to reap what they sow. ![]()

So with my seeds they are already taken out of the cone. Would you still suggest soaking them in water? mudmantoo, Nice looking tree, thanks for the pic. -Paul
