Matt,
Next time when you show us a tree like this, can you also show the X-ray picture along with it? (I also like this tree very much) |

1. What are the tree's strengths?
Healthy foliage and full canopy. Very much how mature Japanese Maples look in Australia if planted in the ground. I actually like the blue pot. 2. What are its weaknesses? The small root crossing the trunk is a little bit distracting. Also the canopy, even though nice and full, is too much like a topiary ball. I believe the lowest left hand branch needs to be the longest branch and would make the tree more tree like rather than topiary like. 3. How could the tree be improved? THe lowest left hand branch to be the longest. The nebari improved and more on display. Also the trunk position in the pot needs to be moved a tiny bit more to the right if the lowest left hand branch is made the longest. 4. Does the tree have a message you could define in words? To me it reminds me of the mature maples I have seen in the mountain area of Melbourne on one of the golf courses. Very femine like tree. 5. How would you arrange the tree with other elements to create an interesting two or three-point display? Pass. |
