What a change from the first photo.
Great Tree. Fantastic multiple leaf and small leaf size, gives me the impression of a weeping willow. I have never seen one like this before. Just needs a little more bulk/ flare in the lower trunk, which I am sure will come in another 3-5 years. Obviously, this appears to be in expert hands. The double ribbed pot disguises the extra depth nicely, but I would love to see it in a slightly shallower pot next Spring. However, 10 out of 10 anyway ! Regards, Ian. I've only seen these as "malsai".This one is very nice....VERY nice. The only change I would consider at this time is to de triangulate (is that a word?
)it a bit...ie.,lower the crown to make it more in keeping with MY visualisation of a broadleaved tree.Purely a personal preferance though.andy

The leaves are so small, and compliment the size of the tree well. The pot and ground cover go good with the design as well. I like how you catch little glimpses of whats going on inside the foliage. One thing that I would like to see though is maybe a more open design, so that we can see what the trunk is doing under there, if it was here in front of me maybe it would be visible but here in the pic, not much. Right now the branches you can see seem to be kind of wild, if we could see the trunk, there may be more flow, more harmony with the branches, even the nebari and ground cover.
Also after looking longer, I don't think the trunk is doing a very good job of supporting the canopy, its to much at this point. I do like the tree though. crabs><> |

First credible bonsai I have ever seen made of a tree with compound leaves. Very nice tree, very nice workmanship.

This isn't my tree, sorry to say but......I know its owner, who gave me this photo. The photo speaks for itself and gives us a totaly different view on the tree.
For me, it looks like I'm walking in the forest and looking up. Hope you all enjoy it as much I did, cheers, W

What a graceful and fun three! Who said that compound leaves don't make nice bonsai? Those leaves give the tree a lush and happy feeling. They also add the appearance of age, since they all droop downward, like the branches of a mature tree.

I second the motion. Very fine tree. I also like Andy's virtual version. I've never heard it said that compound leaves don't make good bonsai. I guess I still have a lot to learn. Mike

I like this tree very much! It really is beautiful. It seems like a nice place to have a rest on a summer day. Peacefull, that is what comes out of this bonsaï.
I just would like to see the trunk get thicker toward the botom.
