Display experiment

I'm working on displays for the Sei Boku Bonsai Kai show this coming weekend.
As this juniper is somewhat avantgard, a scroll in the same vein seems appropriate.
The first image shows the origin of the scroll. Its a Chinese "sunrock". or "moonstone", whichever you prefer.
I photographed the stone, as the first image shows. and then worked it over in Photoshop until I achieved the desired impression. Then it was printed and attached to the shikishi, or scroll card.
This juniper, which stands 38 inches from the pot rim, was landscape collected about 20 years ago. It's been extensively carved to the point where less than half the original wood still remains.

Hi Bob
The show will be at the San Mateo Garden Center, 605 Parkwide Way in San Mateo. I280 south, exit Highway 92 east, exit Alameda de las Pulgas south, right on Parkside Way. Easy to find, hope to see you there. Hours are 11-4, Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5. I'll be doing a demo on Sunday.

Mike

I'd call the experiment a success.
Very creative, Mr.P!

thanks for the details. My inlaws will be in town, so I don't know if I'll be able to get away . . .
