Welcome to the forum!
I personally have offered to replace a shrub or tree but never outright buy. There is a member of our club who advertises the fact that he and his sons will remove old, unwanted, shrubs or small trees. people pay him a minimal fee for this service and he of course, makes out like a bandit. I understand that he will also do this at no charge for the right stock. When I was younger without land to bow-hunt on I often asked local landowners for permission. I quickly found out some basic rules that has helped me with obtaining permission to collect as well. 1) Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you don't ask, you won't get permission. 2) Be responsible and honest. Do what you say and say what you do. Fill in holes, clean up well. 3) Offer a service in exchange. Planting replacement seedlings, raking a yard, staking firewood, shoveling snow., a little work goes a long way toward building relationships. Good luck and thanks for the kind words, Will Heath |
