It would seem that nursery slumming is pretty common here as well as the dumpster drive by.

I'm just curious if anyone has ever walked up to a complete strangers house and asked them for a old shrub or tree that was in their landscape?

Treebeard,

This thread isn't anything comapred to the one on crtiques and rep points that got so far off topic that Matt had to close it down to save a massive intelligence drop.

I have had some luck in the past with this by offering to replace sorry looking landscape plants, that were good bonsai material, with new plants from the nursery...Sometimes a bit expensive but have obtained some really nice stock this way...Matter of fact I think I might give this another try soon...

Regards
Behr

Not a complete stranger, but when my new neighbors moved into the house across the street I did convince them to hold of on digging out a couple of big assed yews until the spring and I would give them a hand doing so!
